ATHLETICS Injury-plagued Emmanuel Korir ready to 'fight' to defend his world title
Korir has failed to impress since the start of the 2023 season due to his injury.
During last year’s edition of the event, Kenya managed to bag 10 medals, two gold, five silver, and three bronze medals. They finished fourth in the medal standings.
In a post on his Facebook page, Korir said: “It's just less than two weeks before Hungary's capital, Budapest - roars to life with the World Athletics Championships set to run from August 19-27.
"Team Kenya is stepping up its preparations at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani ahead of the global event. Can't wait!”
Triple world record holder Faith Kipyegon and reigning Olympic 800m champion Emmanuel Korir will be returning as defending championships after dominating last year’s events. World 5000m silver medallist Jacob Krop will also be returning, this time round, hoping to go one place better.

Some of the Kenya stars who will be looking to shine as they head to Central Europe include Faith Kipyegon, Ferdinand Omanyala, and Mary Moraa among many others.
World 10,000m silver medallist Stanley Waithaka was forced to miss out on the event due to an injury. World 5000m silver medallist Beatrice Chebet is also in the mix and this time around, she will team up with Kipyegon.
World 800m bronze medallist Mary Moraa and world 10,000m bronze medallist Margaret Kipkemboi will also be making a comeback.

FOOTBALL South Africa crash out of FIFA Women’s World Cup after loss to Netherlands
