Chepkemoi clocked 1:08:34 to cut the tape ahead of home talent Glenrose Xaba who timed 1:08:37. Ethiopia’s Bekelech Teku Wariyo who was debuting over the distance sealed the podium in 1:09:04.

ATHLETICS Brigid Kosgei, Kelvin Kiptum to lead Kenyan marathon team to World Championships
Kiptum became the second-fastest marathoner behind world marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge after his exploits at the London Marathon.
This marks Cheokemoi’s first race of the season since last year’s Semi Marathon de Lille where she competed in the 21km distance and finished third.

Lesotho’s Tebello Ramakongoana finished second in 1:00:35 (PB) as Precious Mashele sealed the podium in 1:00:43.
The first Kenyan to cross the finish line was Samuel Naibei who clocked 1:01:07 for fifth place. Another Kenyan, Kiprono Kipkemoi finished sixth in 01:01:22.
