Beatrice Chebet is not resting on her laurels as she chases more success for herself in 2025 following her illustrious 2024 season.
Beatrice Chebet oozed class as she claimed top honours at the Cross Internacional de Itálica, a World Athletics Cross Country Tour Gold meeting, in Seville on Sunday.
The double Olympic champion was off to a great start in the race comprising youngsters and opened a wide gap from the start. Kazakhstan’s Deisy Jepkemei, Uganda’s Charity Cherop and Kenya’s Mercy, Diana and Sharon Chepkemoi were her greatest challengers but Beatrice Chebet proved too strong.
European 5000m bronze medallist Marta García, fellow Spaniard Carolina Robles and Sarah Lahti were also in the mix, looking to outsmart Beatrice Chebet but they were not formidable enough to match up to her standards.

Heading into the final stretch, Beatrice Chebet maintained her confidence and unleashed a 7:42 lap to claim top honours. Chebet crossed the finish line in 23:32 with Daisy Jepkemei coming in second in a time of 23:59. Charity Cherop rounded up the podium in a time of 24:35.
Beatrice Chebet was thrilled to have raced against youngsters and finally gotten her first victory after two previous attempts that saw her fail to live up to the billing.
“It was my third appearance here and I managed to triumph at last so I’m very satisfied. It has also been very nice to share the weekend with my young compatriots Mercy, Diana and Sharon Chepkemoi,” the world 5000m bronze medallist said.
Beatrice Chebet has had one of the best seasons this year, starting out with her title defense at the World Cross Country Championships. She then proceeded to the Diamond League Meeting in Doha and won the 5000m in a time of 14:26.98.
The 24-year-old then shattered the 10,000m world record at the Prefontaine Classic, clocking a stunning 28:54.14 to cross the finish line. Beatrice Chebet proceeded to finish second behind Faith Kipyegon in the 5000m at the Kenyan Olympic trials.
At the Olympic Games in Paris, France, Chebet wrote history by winning the 5000m and 10,000m titles and did not rest even after that. She ran a solo race to win the 5000m at the Diamond League Meeting in Zurich before claiming top honours in the 3000m at the Grand Prix Lombardia.
