Beatrice Chebet capped off a stellar 2024 season marked by double Olympic triumph with a record breaking run.

Double Olympic champion Beatrice Chebet is already eying a new chalenge after ending her stellar 2024 season in unforgettable fashion, smashing her own 5km world record in Barcelona on October 31.

The 24-year-old Kenyan clocked an extraordinary 13:54, obliterating her previous record of 14:13, set at the same event in 2023.

With a jaw-dropping improvement of 19 seconds, Chebet continues to solidify her status as a long-distance running phenomenon.

“I’m super happy as everything went according to plan,” Chebet said after the race via World Athletics.

"I felt capable of running under 14 and I managed to do so. Two races in Barcelona and two world records, can I ask for more?”

Chebet’s achievements in 2024 have been nothing short of remarkable. Earlier in the year, she successfully defended her world cross-country title.

She also made history at the Prefontaine Classic by becoming the first woman to break the 29-minute barrier for 10,000m on the track, clocking an awe-inspiring 28:54.14.

Her crowning moment, however, came at the Paris Olympics, where she stunned the world by defeating compatriot Faith Kipyegon to win gold in the 5,000m beofere days later, doubling her triumph by capturing the 10,000m Olympic gold.

With her 2024 season in the books, Chebet is already turning her focus to the next challenge as she eyes the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, scheduled for September 13-21, 2025.

She aims to claim gold medals in both the 5,000m and 10,000m events, building on the momentum of her record-breaking year.

“My focus for next year is to win gold medals over 5,000m and 10,000m at the World Championships in Tokyo,” Chebet declared, exuding confidence.

Chebet’s relentless drive and ability to shatter records have made her a beacon of inspiration in the world of athletics. As she sets her sights on Tokyo, fans and fellow competitors alike are left in awe of her accomplishments and eager to see what new heights she will reach in 2025.
