Beatrice Chebet has had a great 2023 season, finishing in the podium bracket in all her major events and she has shared her assessment of the season.

Beatrice Chebet opened her season with a dominant win at the World Cross-country Championships and ended it with a win at the World Road Running Championships.

In between, she has managed to impress with her stellar performances, from the Kip Keino Classic to the Diamond League Meetings.

After the World Cross-country Championships in Bathurst, Australia, the Kenyan dominated at the Kip Keino Classic before starting off her Diamond League campaign at the Meeting in Oslo, Norway.

She then proceeded to the Diamond League Meeting in Stockholm, Sweden where she reigned supreme in the 5,000m before finishing second in the Diamond League Meeting in London.

After the outing in London, Chebet proceeded to the World Championships and finished third in the women’s 5,000m behind Faith Kipyegon and Sifan Hassan. From there, she competed at the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen where she won before finishing second at the Prefontaine Classic.

Her latest victory was at the World Road Running Championships in Riga, Latvia where she bagged the 5km title.

Speaking on Nation Sport, Chebet said: “This year has been amazing for me. Last year was better but this year I’ve seen that I have done a lot."

"I won a gold medal in the cross-country then won a bronze at the World Championships. And then winning a gold medal in road running is not easy.”

She added that it has not been easy achieving all those feats since she had to invest her time in training and maintaining discipline.

She also extended a hand of gratitude to her coach and her family for the unwavering support they accorded her.

“Hard work, perseverance, discipline, and fearing God are the virtues that have helped me achieve this," she added.

"The support from my family, coach, Athletics Kenya, the government, and my fans has also helped me. They believed in me and I did not fail them. Thank you everyone for their support."
