Chebet, who was competing in the women’s 3000m race against a strong field, put up a good fight to secure a dominant win in a world-leading time of 8:24.05.

World 5000m bronze medallist Beatrice Chebet has continued her hot streak at the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen, China.

Mexico’s Laura Galvan finished second in a national record time of 8:28.05 as Ethiopia’s Aynadis Mebratu finished third in a Personal Best time of 8:29.88.

Chebet is just fresh from competing at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary where she finished third behind Faith Kipyegon and Sifan Hassan.

She will now be waiting to defend her Diamond League Final Trophy when she heads to the Diamond League Final in Eugene, USA from September 16 to 17.

On his part, World 800m silver medallist Emmanuel Wanyonyi also put up a good fight to secure a win over World Champion Marco Arop.

In the tight race, Wanyonyi put in the work and secured a narrow win over the on-song Canadian. Wanyonyi clocked a world-leading time of 1:43.20 to cross the line ahead of Arop who clocked a Personal Best time of 1:43.24.

Frenchman Benjamin Roberts sealed the podium after clocking 1:43.88. Commonwealth Games champion Wycliffe Kinyamal was also in action in the race and he managed to finish fourth in 1:44.04.

The defending champion of the Diamond League Trophy in the men's 800m Emmanuel Korir has been suffering from an injury setback and will most likely not be defending his title.

Wanyonyi, who has been in good shape this season will be looking to make a mark once he heads to the USA for the final. But before then, athletes will assemble in Brussels for the second-last leg of the Diamond League Meeting.
