Beatrice Chebet has continued her winning streak while Daniel Simiu shut down the field with a win at the National Police Cross-country Championships held at the Ngong race course.
Reigning World Cross-country champion Beatrice Chebet and World 10,000m silver medallist Daniel Simiu have reigned supreme at the National Police Cross-country Championships held at the Ngong Race Course on Friday.
Chebet was in a class of her own as she obliterated a strong field to win the women’s race in 34:44 as Gladys Kwamboka followed her closely to finish second in 34:47. Former World 10,000m bronze medallist Margaret Chelimo completed the podium in 34:47.50.

ATHLETICS Beatrice Chebet wins SJAK/LG Sports Personality award of the month of December
Beatrice Chebet is the winner of the December 2023 Sports Journalists Association of Kenya and LG Sports Personality of the Month.
Her main focus at the moment is to defend her World Cross-country title. The 2024 World Cross-country Championships will be held in Belgrade, Serbia, on March 30.
Meanwhile, Kwamboka has her eyes set on the All-African Games and, hopefully, making the cut to the national team for the Olympic Games in Paris, France.
In a post-race interview, she explained that she draws her inspiration from Chebet, New York City and Boston Marathon champion Hellen Obiri, and World 3,000m record holder Beatrice Chepkoech.

ATHLETICS Daniel Simiu opens season with striking win in Italy
Daniel Simiu has promised fireworks this season after opening his campaign with a solid win at the Campaccio Cross-country in Italy.
On his part, Simiu, the World Half Marathon silver medallist also shook off competition to dominate in the men’s race.
The Kenyan clocked an impressive time of 29:48 to cut the tape ahead of Edwin Kiplagat who finished second after timing 30:17. Robert Kiprop sealed the podium after clocking 30:43.
