Moraa and Chebet now join the stellar cast of Ferdinand Omanyala and Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce.

Reigning World Cross-country champion Beatrice Chebet and Commonwealth Games 800m champion Mary Moraa are the latest entrants to the Kip Keino Classic scheduled for Saturday, May 13 at the Moi International Sports Center in Kasarani.

Chebet will be competing in the 5000m race and she will be hoping to use home advantage to upset the visitors. She lines up with a Personal Best of 14:34.55 over the distance.

She will open her track season at the event after a fruitful start of her season that saw her bag wins at the 91st Cinque Mulini Cross-country in January and later the World Cross-country Championships in February.

Chebet is a world 5000m silver medallist and she is also the reigning Commonwealth Games 5000m champion.

On her part, Moraa had a mixed start to her indoor tour but things opened up for her as she transitioned to her outdoor tour. She is just from reigning supreme at the Botswana Golden Grand Prix where she destroyed a strong field to win the 400m.

In her previous interview with Pulse Sports, she revealed that she wants to compete in a number of races but her main focus is on the World Championships in Budapest later this year.

"My coach will plan the races I will go to after Botswana but my main focus will be on the World Championships. I want to achieve a podium finish,” she said at the time.

During last year’s global event, Moraa managed to finish third in the two-lap race.

Moraa and Chebet now join the stellar cast of Africa 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala, multiple world and Olympic champion Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce, legendary sprinter Isaac Makwala, and Two-time world silver medallist Yaroslava Mahuchikh.
