Australian coach Alex Stewart has opened up on why he believes Mondo Duplantis could be better than Jamaican star Usain Bolt.

Alex Stewart, one of the top high-jump coaches in the world, has opened up on why Mondo Duplantis is better than multiple world and Olympic champion Usain Bolt.

As per his interview with Sportskeeda Stewart argued that there is always a bias when it comes to track and field because people tend to rate strong athletes with the 100m races and field events are ignored.

According to him, Duplantis is better than the Jamaican, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes of all time.

“See, the interesting thing is the way there's a bias that exists in track and field. Everybody always looks to the 100 meters to provide the dominant figure for the sport.

“Yeah, so I think people are constantly looking for that person within the current crop of 100-meter sprinters.

“But there's already a tremendous number of fantastic athletes in the sport. I think like Mondo Duplantis, to me, he maybe is already better than Bolt (Usain Bolt) ever was,” he said.

She added that his favourite athlete at the moment should be Venezuela’s, Yulimar Rojas. He added that if the reigning world record holder would be able to communicate in English, she would have been a global megastar.

“Probably my favorite athlete in track and field right now is Yulimar Rojas from Venezuela who I think if she could speak English would be a global megastar.

“She has a fantastic presence and her results speak volumes. Yeah, she's a tremendous individual. But if you're looking for someone to come through, I really think Anna Hall is going to be truly great,” he added.
