Athing Mu seems to have moved on from her Olympics trials heartbreak after confirming where she will run next.

Reigning Olympic champion Athing Mu has confirmed her next assignment after her US Olympic trials heartbreak.

The American talent will be racing at the Holloway Pro Classic in Gainesville in Florida on Friday, July 19 according to Fan Sided.

The 22-year-old will look to electrify the stadium at the University of Florida, with the hope of having an impeccable bounce back after she fell at the Olympic trials at the Hayward Field in Eugene.

The 2022 world 800m champion will also be out to prove her doubters wrong, unleashing a fast time to prove that it if weren’t for the fall, she would have qualified for the Olympic Games.

At the US Olympic trials, Mu was off to a great start in the preliminaries and semifinal, finishing third in the former and winning the latter. She stumbled in the final and ended up finishing ninth. She appealed to have the race re-run but USATF threw out her appeal.

At the start of the 2024 season, Mu had been nursing a hamstring injury and had not raced prior to the US Olympic trials.

After joining forces with Bobby Kersee in 2022, Mu raced sparingly but managed to make major strides. She won the 800m at the 2022 World Championships and finished second behind Mary Moraa at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

She rounded up her season with a win at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting final and returned to racing for the US Olympic trials. In 2023, Mu only competed in seven races.

Mu, Moraa and Keely Hodgkinson have lit up the women’s 800m and missing the Olympic Games will be a huge setback for fans who were eagerly waiting for the clash.

The clash was initially supposed to happen at the 2024 Prefontaine Classic but Mu withdrew due to the injury. Hodgkinson and Moraa showed up and the Briton won the race with the Kenyan in second place.
