Athing Mu's bold reaction to Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s glamorous GST photoshoot has fans buzzing, sparking intrigue over the bond between these Olympic champions off the track.

Former Olympic champion Athing Mu recently caused quite a stir on social media with her enthusiastic response to Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s photoshoot for Michael Johnson's Grand Slam Track League (GST).

McLaughlin-Levrone, a four-time Olympic gold medalist and reigning icon of the 400m hurdles, was captured in an inspiring shoot for the GST League showing off a powerful yet glamorous side in her signature New Balance track wear and her voluminous curly hair.

As the GST Instagram account shared a clip of McLaughlin-Levrone’s photoshoot, they cleverly captioned it: “Grammy’s red carpet or GST red track?”—inviting fans and fellow athletes alike to witness a whole new dimension of the track star.

Athing Mu, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and former teammate of McLaughlin-Levrone, wasted no time sharing her support in the comment section, responding with, “curls: ✨poppin✨.”

With just two words, Mu's comment became a favorite among fans, who eagerly joined in celebrating McLaughlin-Levrone's fresh, striking look.

Mu and McLaughlin-Levrone share a special camaraderie on and off the track, having won gold together in the 4x400m relay team at the Tokyo Olympics, along with fellow stars Allyson Felix and Dalilah Muhammad.

In an unforgettable race, the U.S. quartet clinched gold with a time of 3:16.85, making them instant national heroes.

The Instagram interaction shows a glimpse of that unshakable bond, with Mu’s comment not only celebrating McLaughlin-Levrone’s beauty and style but underscoring the sense of community and encouragement shared among elite athletes.

The post from the GST League comes just months after McLaughlin-Levrone signed a monumental deal with them in June, making her the first track and field athlete to join Michael Johnson's pioneering venture.

In an interview with Olympics.com, McLaughlin-Levrone shared insights into her passion for the 400m hurdles event, revealing why it stands out from other track events.

The open 400 is just a full-on sprint,” McLaughlin-Levrone stated.

“But at least with the hurdles, I can think about something and have to work on it. There's certain things that kind of just distract you from the fact that you're running a 400. And I think that's why I love the hurdles.”

Despite her primary specialization in hurdles, McLaughlin-Levrone has also demonstrated prowess in the 400m dash, capturing notable wins over the distance in 2024 at events like the Brussels Diamond League and the USATF New York City Grand Prix

However, for Mu, the journey has taken a difficult turn recently, as she faced disappointment at the U.S. Track and Field Trials, finishing 9th in the 800m final, thereby missing her chance to compete in the 2024 Olympics.
