Some of Nigeria's best college athletes such as Favour Ashe, Favour Ofili, and Godson Brume will be gunning for medals and record-breaking performances at the South Eastern Conference Championships.
Nigeria's fastest man Favour Ashe, National Record holder in the 200m Favour Ofili, and Godson Brume top the list of the country's best college athletes set to compete at the South Eastern Conference Championships from May 11 -13th.
Ashe is expected to compete in the 100m, which he'll be looking to defend his SEC title in the colours of Auburn University.

He had an injury-plagued indoor season, which saw him withdraw from the 60m final at the NCAA Indoor Championships, though he won the SEC 60m title.
Though he hasn't competed outdoors this season, Ashe will be gunning to put his injury woes behind him as he guns for a successful title defense.
But in line to cause a major upset in his quest is his countryman Godson Brume, who has been in his best career shape this year.

NCAA Godson Brume shoots for the stars as Nigeria's next sub-10s runner
At the LSU Invitational this weekend, Godson Brume will be gunning to be the first Nigerian sprinter with a legal sub-10s time in 2023.
The Louisiana State University (LSU) star sprinter has the fastest all-conditions 100m time by a Nigerian this season with 9.97s. After winning a 60m bronze medal behind Ashe at the SEC Indoor Championships, Brume has that edge to upgrade this time around.

Consequently, Ofili will aim to retain her titles in the 100m and the 200m. The LSU poster girl has not had a perfect start to the outdoor season either, after her record-breaking indoor season.

Favour Ofili can be considered as one of the greatest to run the indoor 200m, after storming to the fourth fastest time in world history.
However, after running 11.27s on her season's debut last week, Ofili will have to be at her best to run faster than her 10.93s and 22.02s clocked in winning the titles last year.

Meanwhile, her teammate Ella Onojuvwevwo will be racing in the 200m and 400m, hoping to at least get to the final as both will also team up in the 4x400m.
Abasiono Akpan will race in the 400m Hurdles, aiming to break her Auburn freshman record in the event. She will also be a part of the 4x400m relay squad of her school.
