'So many fights of unfairness'- Kenyan sprinter remains optimistic despite setbacks over World Athletics rules
The female sprinter, who was a victim of the World Athletics DSD rules believes she still has a chance of redemption.
The American sprint queen went to the event in the Hungarian capital, winning the world 100m title before anchoring the women’s 4x100m relay team to top honours.
She then made the cut to the Paris Olympic Games in 2024 after winning the US Olympic trials 100m race in a world leading time of 10.71 seconds.
She was a favourite to win the 100m at the Olympic Games but was forced to finish second behind Julien Alfred in the race. Richardson went on to claim the women’s 4x100m relay gold, her first ever Olympic gold medal.
“As long as you continue to push yourself, you’re going to get somewhere, but you have to stay committed,” the 24-year-old said in an interview with Dazed.
Now looking ahead to the 2025 season, Richardson has a series of things to achieve with the main being to defend her 100m title at the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
Last season was not the best in the books for her since she lost the Olympic title and despite gaining her confidence back after winning the Diamond League Meeting in Zurich and beating Alfred, she still lost the Diamond Trophy to the Saint Lucian golden girl. In the race, she finished distant eighth.
