Professional athletes and amateur runners are excited at the prospect of winning major cash rewards at Sunday’s Kericho Cross-Country Run.
Over 500 athletes and running enthusiasts are expected to take part in the 12 km Kericho Cross-Country run on Sunday in what will be the fifth edition of the athletics event.
A total of Ksh1,350,000 is up for grabs for the top 10 finishers at the event which is sponsored by betting firm Betika.

Ferdinand Omanyala has gone down memory lane to share how it felt like to post his first sub-10 performance back in 2021.
The sixth to 10th place finishers will each receive Ksh10,000 for their efforts in both the men’s and women’s categories.
The event follows the success of the 15-km Betika cross-country run that was held in Iten, Uasin Gishu county in May 2022, the Kericho cross-country event that was held in October of the same year, the Iten Road Race in May this year and the Eldoret Half Marathon in August.

ATHLETICS Ferdinand Omanyala & Noah Lyles make their choice for Women’s World Athlete of the Year award
World 100m and 200m champion Noah Lyles and Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala have cast their vote for their preferred Women’s World Athlete of the Year from the 11 shortlisted.
“We are thrilled to be having the 12km Cross-Country run in Kericho this Sunday, bringing together over 500 participants to battle it out for top honours. This marks the fifth athletics event under the Betika umbrella and confirms our commitment to continue working with communities to nurture and support talent right at the grassroots level,” said Betika Deputy Managing Director and Group Chief Finance Officer Mutua Mutava.
