Amos Serem's younger brother, Edmund, hopes to follow in his footsteps as he looks to impress on the Olympic stage at the upcoming World U20 Championships.
Amos Serem’s younger brother, Edmund has the pressure to deliver as he gears up for the World Under-20 Championships in Peru, Lima coming up from August 27 to 31.
After having a great season where he bagged a silver medal in the men’s 3000m steeplechase at the Africa Senior Athletics Championships, Edmund wants to build on that to deliver on the global stage.
The youngster also participated at the African Games where he finished sixth and will be looking to bank on the senior experience to impress in his debut at the World Under-20 Championships.

Edmund admitted that since his elder brother Amos has won the junior title, he wants to emulate the performance and reclaim Kenya’s title. Amos claimed the win at the 2021 edition of the event, competing before the home crowd. However, the title was snatched during the 2022 edition held in Colombia.
“At the moment, we want to prioritise good health and then the rest shall follow. If I win a gold medal, it will mean a lot to me because I have promised many people that I will go and win a gold medal and follow in the footsteps of my brother who also won the title as a junior athlete,” Serem said in an interview.
He explained that training has been okay and is sure to bring something good back home. As they work on the final touches, the youngster says his main priority remains their health as he focuses on the top prize.
