Amos Kipruto finished third at the 2024 Chicago Marathon, clocking 2:04:50, marking a strong comeback after struggling with a knee injury.

Amos Kipruto went into the 2024 edition of the Chicago Marathon with the hope of winning the race after overcoming a recent struggle with injuries but he was forced to finish third.

His compatriot, John Korir, claimed top honours in a time of 2:02:43 as Ethiopia’s Mohamed Huseydin came in second in 2:04:39. Amos Kipruto rounded up the podium in the race, clocking 2:04:50 to cross the finish line.

Following his recent injury bout, his performance at the Chicago Marathon is proof that he is slowly bouncing back and will be back to take what belongs to him next season. Reacting to his performance, Amos Kipruto expressed satisfaction with his third place and extended a hand of gratitude to his family, fans and everyone who was there to support him.

He disclosed that struggling with a knee injury and bouncing back to a podium finish is indeed a testimony and he also proceeded to congratulate Ruth Chepng’etich and John Korir for their efforts that saw them claim the women’s and men’s titles and bring glory back to Kenya.

“Another Abbott World Marathon Majors marathon, another podium third place in a time of 2.04.50, at Bank of America Chicago Marathon and comes back after a long and bothering knee injury, to my coach and physiotherapy team kongoi sana,” Kipruto said in a post on his Facebook page.

To my great fans everywhere in the world 🌎 Asanteni Sana for cheering me throughout!..Big congratulations to my friend John and Ruth for their incredible work 👏 🙌,” he added.

This season, Amos Kipruto had only raced once, at the 10KM Port Gentil where he finished an impressive third. He had a poor run last season, failing to finish the race at the London Marathon and finishing seventh at the Berlin Marathon. He also rounded up the podium at the Bangsaen21 Half Marathon.
