The 22-year-old sprinter explained why Noah Lyles' personality on the track is not his cup of tea and he opened up on why he released a diss track about the Olympic champion.
American sprinter Erin Brown has addressed his dislike towards reigning Olympic champion Noah Lyles and why he released a diss track about Lyles.
Brown, speaking on the Ready Set Go podcast, explained that he is not a fan of the triple world champion when it comes to his track personality and not his personal life since he does not know Lyles on a personal level.
The 22-year-old added that just like in any other sports, some athletes are liked and others disliked and Lyles happens to fall in the category of the athletes who are not his favourite.

“When it comes to Noah Lyles, I’m just going to say that as a sports person, I’m not a fan of his. It’s just pretty much that I’m not a fan and in any other sport like when we have our favourite athletes and we have the athletes that we don’t like and he just happens to fall into that category. I just don’t like him as a track guy,” Brown said.
“As a person, I don’t know, so I can’t be like I don’t like Noah’s personality because I don’t know him in his personal life. When it comes to track and field and him being out there as a track athlete I don’t like him when he races, I’m going to root against him and just things like that, I mean, it’s nothing too major,” he added.
He added that the diss songs were about entertaining some of the track and field fans who equally dislike the three-time world 200m champion. However, Brown expressed his respect for Lyles’ exceptional talent on the track.
He explained that no one has ever won the Olympic title in the men’s 100m since Justin Gatlin’s exploits in 2004. Lyles reclaimed the title, competing at the Paris Olympic Games where he clocked a personal best time of 9.79 seconds to win the race ahead of Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson. Fred Kerley completed the podium, clocking 9.81 seconds to cross the finish line.
“I made diss songs that were entertaining to people but it’s just pretty much that. The 100m title holds a lot of weight and there’s nothing you can disrespect about that and it hasn’t been done since 2004,” Brown said.
“I’ve never taken away from his talent like he has crazy talent but I don’t like him as an athlete. I’m not going to root for him, it’s just like boxers. Some people didn’t like Mayweather and he was immensely talented but a lot of people rooted against him.”
