The nine-time Olympic champion announced his decision to leave X (Twitter).

Legendary American sprinter Carl Lewis has shared that he will be exiting the X (Twitter) app since his interests are not being met following the recent US elections.

The nine-time Olympic champion, who has been a very active user of the X app disclosed that he will only be found on Instagram and Bluesky and anyone who is interested in reaching him would have to check him out there.

He expressed dissatisfaction with how Elon Musk started controlling the app and revealed that his ‘shared humanity’ is no longer appreciated hence there is no need to continue being there if there are no benefits.

“I've made the decision to leave X at the end of November. You can follow me at @Carl_lewis_official on Instagram or @carl-lewis on Bluesky. It is clear that this site and its owner have no interest in my shared humanity so there is no reason to use it. See you there,” Carl Lewis shared.

The American icon's decision has triggered some of the X users who thought it was unwise for him to leave the app due to Elon Musk’s close relations with newly elected US president Donald Trump.

One wrote: “Owner’s political stand has nothing to do with the app. Can’t get personal with people because of politics let alone getting personal with their company which is unrelated to the person’s opinion. This is unnecessary. Respectfully.”

Another X user wrote: “You’re looking to hear from only people that agree with you? That’s an echo chamber and not mentally healthy.”

However, other X users rallied behind the 10-time world championships medallist, noting that he has made a great decision to move away from the app and they would not forget how he impacted the sport greatly.

One user said: “Thank you for everything you have done for the world of Sports and your activism. It has been an honor to call you friend. I know if your mom was here, how supportive of your decision she will be. Hopefully we will both find each other where the sky’s are bluer.”

Another wrote: “Excellent choice sir! Please follow me as well on either/both sites!! I will also be leaving x behind! Much love! BflyLadyDi εїз 😃😘🦋🦋🙏🏼🎗️🎶.”

Carl Lewis has been one of the most consistent X users and has always been vocal in sharing his opinions on how track and field can improve and his exit from the app will certainly come a huge blow to a dozen of his keen followers. He leaves the app having acquired 50,200 followers.
