Tyson Gay has shared the difficulties he has faced since retiring in 2021, particularly transitioning into coaching and adjusting to life outside of competitive track as well as the launching of his book.

Tyson Gay has detailed how life after retirement has been tough and how he manages to keep the fire burning amid the challenges.

The American sprinter retired in 2021 after competing in two races, the Tom Tellez Invitational and Pure Summer Invitational, but has now admitted to struggling post-retirement.

The three-time world champion further noted that being a coach and athlete are two very different things as he wished to have known that sooner.

He admitted at engaging in some odd things he has had to adapt to. Tyson Gay has also taken a bold step to coach a baseball team rather than venturing into the world of track and field.

Speaking with Justin Gatlin and Asafa Powell on the latter’s YouTube Channel, Tyson Gay pointed out that meeting up with his track rivals was enlightening after being under the radar for years.

“This has to be one of my best highlights, coming back and reconnecting with you guys (Asafa Powell and Justin Gatlin) and also, it’s been a tough transition especially if you want to get into coaching,” Tyson Gay admitted.

“There are always these odd things you have to do as an ex-track athlete, it’s not that odd but it’s like either you are going to try coaching and then the personal training. For me, I’m coaching my son’s baseball team, so I’m enjoying that and I’m chilling and relaxing.”

The former world silver medallist added that he is also working on some online training sessions where he will be out to help people from all over the world get into shape. Tyson Gay also launched a book, 10 Must-have Tips to Train Like a World class Athlete, where he details what it takes for an athlete to win and perform well.

“I’m trying to do a little stuff online like little online training stuff here and there but if someone needs my help, they can reach out to me. Other than that, I’ve been really been chilling. I mean, I just put out a six-week speed program for people…a lot of people were asking me for help and I thought it would be wise to put out something for people to keep shape,” he added.
