Fresh from a Monaco Diamond League win Benjamin anticipates a challenging and thrilling competition at the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Olympic silver medallist Rai Benjamin has expressed a mixture of excitement and apprehension as he anticipates the upcoming Paris Olympics to be an event filled with "madness".

Coming off a recent win at the Monaco Diamond League where he clocked an impressive 46.67 seconds in the 400m hurdles, Benjamin is already gearing up for what he predicts will be an exceptionally challenging competition.

In Monaco, Benjamin managed to edge out formidable competitors such as Karsten Warholm of Norway and Alison dos Santos of Brazil.

This victory was particularly significant as it sets the stage for a thrilling rematch among the three at Paris 2024, where they will vie for Olympic glory once more.

"I did not run the race I wanted to execute, but it was all about getting in and seeing what I have in me. I did not run the home straight so strong as I usually do, but that is okay as I won," Benjamin reflected on his performance.

Despite his success, Benjamin remains critical of his performance, emphasizing the need for improvement.

"I still need to get back home and prepare for the rest of the season. Paris is going to be madness. I have to win there. I believe I can do it. I will go back home and try to get as sharp as possible," he stated.

The challenge in Paris is expected to be daunting as three top medalists from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics—Benjamin, Warholm, and dos Santos—are all in peak form, making the 400m hurdles one of the most anticipated events of the games.

Benjamin known for his explosive power, particularly in the crucial final stages of the race, demonstrated his prowess once again in Monaco by overtaking dos Santos on the home bend and outpacing Warholm off the final hurdle.

Looking back at his journey, Benjamin's record is nothing short of remarkable.

He holds the title as the second fastest man in the history of the 400m hurdles with a personal best of 46.17 seconds.

His recent outings include a bronze medal win at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest in the 400m hurdles and a gold in the 4 by 400m relay event.
