Kenny Bednarek's girlfriend Sharmila Nicollet has aimed a fresh dig at Noah Lyles, noting that she was extremely excited when her boyfriend silenced the triple world champion at the Olympics.

Kenny Bednarek’s golfer girlfriend Sharmila Nicollet was one of the happiest people when the American sprinter beat Noah Lyles in the men’s 200m final at the Paris Olympic Games.

The race was won by Letsile Tebogo, who clocked an African record time of 19.46 seconds, as Kenny Bednarek came in second in 19.62 seconds. Fresh from winning the Olympic title in the men’s 100m, Noah Lyles settled for third place in 19.70 seconds.

Speaking on the Netflix Sprint docuseries, Bednarek’s girlfriend was thrilled with how the former world 200m silver medallist showed up in his greatest form and thrashed the triple world champion.

Sharmila Nicollet expressed her love for Noah Lyles but noted that he always has something bad to say about her boyfriend and was happy that for once, he had been silenced and won’t have much to say.

“I’m happy he beat Noah. I love Noah but he be trash talking my baby, so, Noah Lyles, shhhhh,” she said.

At the Paris Olympic Games, Kenny Bednarek finished seventh in the men’s 100m final before bouncing back to a silver medal in the men’s 200m before competing in the 4x100m relay race. On his part, Noah Lyles was forced to end his campaign after the 200m since he tested positive for COVID.

Kenny Bednarek proceeded to race in a series of Diamond League Meetings including the events in Silesia where he finished third, Zurich where he finished second and later went on to claim top honours at the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels.

Kenny Bednarek’s girlfriend has been very instrumental in his success and Bednarek noted that she pushed him beyond limits and was able to hold his hand during the tough times.

“She is the biggest reason why I have been so successful, just because she's a professional athlete as well," Bednarek said in an episode of The Running Effect Podcast.

“And meeting her, it was kind of like, hey, I want to be an Olympian. And then she laughed at my face saying, well, you gotta step it up."

The two enjoyed a vacation in Bali before arriving in the Philippines, where they enjoyed themselves in Central Visayas.
