African Record holder Ese Brume extended her winning streak in the continent with another historic gold medal at the African Games in Ghana.

Ese Brume's legacy as Africa's long jump queen remained untouched after historically retaining her African Games title in Ghana.

The African Record holder retained her title with her very first jump, soaring to a distance of 6.92m (+3.9m/s), to which the remaining competitors couldn't match or surpass her mark.

By doing this, Brume became the second Nigerian woman after Modupe Oshikoya (1973 and 1978) to defend successfully a long jump title in African Games history, and the distance would have been a new record, but for the excessive wind reading.

Burkina Faso's Marthe Koala settled for the silver medal also in a windy 6.81m (+2.1), as Nigerian teenager Prestina Ochonogor leaped a massive personal best of 6.67m (1.3m/s) to claim her first international medal for bronze.

Ruth Usoro couldn't replicate her triple jump form that saw her win the title as she settled for fourth in a distance of 6.62m (1.9m/s).

With her performance in Ghana, Brume will be looking forward to legally hit the Paris Olympics qualifying standard of 6.85m, as well as having a memorable Olympic year by winning a medal in Paris. Ochonogor is also not exempted from qualifying for the Olympics as her improvement this season has been exceptional, and she's one of the world's best young jumpers.
