The governing body of athletics in Nigeria, AFN has rescheduled the Nigerian trials to new dates but venue remains the same.

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has postponed the upcoming and highly anticipated Nigerian trials by a day.

AFN previously scheduled the trials to hold from July 6th - 8th, but will now take place from Wednesday, July 5th - Friday, 7th at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.

Reports say that the rescheduling of the date is because of making way for Nigeria's relay teams to compete at the Region 2 Athletics Competitions in Togo, which earlier clashed with the Nigerian trials date.

The arrival date for the trials will now be Tuesday, July 4th, and departure Saturday, 8th.

The trials is an annual championship that features Nigeria's best athletes at home and abroad, competing for spots on the team to a World Championships or Olympic Games.

This year's World Championships will hold in Budapest, Hungary in August.
