The 22-year-old was impressive in his final race of the season, healing his Paris Olympics heartbreak with a triumph over Christian Coleman, Fred Kerley, Akani Simbine and other top sprinters.

Jamaican youngster Ackeem Blake has bounced back with a bang to triumph over Christian Coleman, Fred Kerley, Akani Simbine and Co in the men’s 100m at the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels.

Blake clocked an impressive 9.93 seconds to cross the finish line ahead of the defending champion Coleman who finished second in 10.00 seconds. Olympic 100m bronze medallist Kerley was forced to finish third in the hotly contested race.

Competing at the event, South Africa’s Simbine was hoping to impress in his final race of the season but faded to fifth place finish in a time of 10.10 seconds. Emmanuel Eseme narrowly defeated Simbine with his fourth-place finish in 10.09 seconds.

Blake is fresh from winning the men’s 100m at the Gala dei Castelli and he went into the race confident of pulling off something great. He had a great execution to the race and his efforts paid off well with a win.

He did not have an impressive run at the Paris Olympic Games where he missed out on a slot in the final of the men’s 100m after finishing fifth in the semifinal. After that, he raced at the Diamond League Meeting in Silesia where he finished third before finishing fourth in Rome.

On his part, Coleman has not enjoyed the greatest of seasons after missing out on an individual slot at the Paris Olympic Games following his dismal performance at the U.S. Olympic trials. He finished fourth in the men’s 100m and 200m at the trials. In Paris, he competed in the men’s 4x100m relay but Team USA got disqualified.

After the Olympics, Coleman only raced at the Diamond League Meeting in Rome where he finished second behind Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo.

On his part, Kerley went into the race confident of a win after winning the bronze medal at the Olympic Games. The American did not take much time off after the Olympics where he competed at the Diamond League Meeting in Lausanne, finishing third before winning the 100m at the meeting in Silesia. He then finished third at the meeting in Rome and fourth in Zurich.

Simbine was hoping to have a great run in Brussels but he did not enjoy a great day in office. He is fresh off second-place finishes at the ISTAF 2024 in Berlin and Galà dei Castelli.
