Kipruto, Kiplagat, and Ngetich dominated Tokyo Marathon with different innovative shoes, featuring unique foam and carbon plates.

Kenyan marathoners on Sunday dominated the streets of Tokyo highlighting not only their unmatched endurance and speed but also the advanced footwear technology that launched them to the podium in one of the world's most prestigious marathons.

The Tokyo Marathon became a showcase for the fusion of athletic prowess and the latest in shoe innovation with the Kenyan trio Benson Kipruto, Timothy Kiplagat, and Vincent Ngetich establishing new benchmarks in marathon running.

Benson Kipruto

Leading the pack was Benson Kipruto, who clinched the Tokyo Marathon title with a breathtaking finish of 2:02:16, breaking the event's record.

Kipruto, a 32-year-old long-distance maestro and one of Adidas' most celebrated athletes, wore the brand's flagship running shoes, the ADIZERO Adios Pro Evo 1.

This shoe, known for its Lightstrike Pro foam technology and EnergyRods carbon plate, is engineered to maximize bounce and efficiency, a fact that was vividly demonstrated as Kipruto shattered records on the Tokyo streets.

Adidas recommends the ADIZERO Adios Pro Evo 1 exclusively for elite runners, highlighting its potential to redefine marathon running standards.

Timothy Kiplagat

Trailing by a mere 39 seconds, Kiplagat secured second spot, bringing to the forefront another giant in sports technology, Nike.

He donned the Alphafly 3, a shoe that carries the legacy of breaking the world record at the Chicago Marathon in the feet of the late Kelvin Kiptum.

The Alphafly 3, with its ZoomX foam technology, dual Zoom Air pods, and a carbon flyplate, represents the pinnacle of Nike's innovation in running footwear. This model is a symbol of the super shoe era, offering unparalleled energy return and cushioning to its wearer.

Vincent Kipkemoi

Vincent Kipkemoi Ngetich, completing the Kenyan trio, claimed the final spot on the podium with a time of 2:04:18.

Ngetich's footwear choice brought attention to Japan's own Asics, with the Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris.

This shoe, launched at the start of the year, is specifically designed for runners who boost their pace by lengthening their stride.

It incorporates FF Turbo Plus cushioning technology and a carbon energy-return plate, marking it as a formidable contender in the high-stakes world of competitive running.

Weighing just 183 grams for a U.S. size 9, it is the second lightest running shoe in the market, outmatched only by Adidas' offering.
