Hall, the new Olympic 400m champion, has explained why he is wary of the potential threat posed by Noah Lyles who is haboring ambitions of competing in the event.
Newly-crowned 400m Olympic champion Quincy Hall has revealed why he is wary of Noah Lyles adding the 400m to his repertoire in the aftermath of the just concluded Paris 2024 games.
Hall cemented his status as the best 400-meter runner of 2024 when he managed to narrowly overcome Matthew Hudson-Smith to clinch the gold medal a few days ago.
However, he is still wary of the potent threat Noah Lyles brings, given his plan to compete in both the 4x400m relay as well as the 4x100m relay at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo next year.

Bell quit athletics in 2017, but reversed her decision in 2021 after she watched Faith Kipyegon dominating the 1500 meters at the Tokyo Olympics.
Lyles would ideally have wanted to compete and claim gold in the 100m, 200m and both relays at the Olympics, but a bout of COVID-19 restricted him to only claim gold in the 100 meters.
Speaking on the NightCap podcast as a guest, Hall was quick to point out and praise the qualities that Noah Lyles has that make him a threat in the event.
“We got a conversation with Lyles and we have something lined up, alongside someone else as well,” Hall said.

Noah Lyles gives update over his COVID-striken status
Lyles has provided an update over his COVID-19 status four days after being diagnosed with the disease moments after bagging bronze in the 200m final.
“Noah is gonna run an open 400 right now and beat a lot of people who think he is not nobody.”
New 200m Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo helped Botswana bag a silver medal in the 4 by 400m relay last Saturday. Part of the reason he looked comfortable was because he has the speed endurance of the 200 and 300 meters -an event he is the new world-record holder as well as the footspeed of an 100 meter runner.
Hall believes Lyles, who got into the 100 meters in 2023 and is now the fastest man in the world having won both the Olympic and world titles, has gathered enough experience and skills in the other events to dominate the 400 meters.
“You saw Tebogo running the 4 by 400. I think a healthy Noah will run sub-44. This man runs 19 seconds. For him to run through the first 200 in 21 flat, it is going to be nothing to this man.

“If he runs 19.4, 19.15 whatever he is gonna run, 21 would be nothing to him. That is a jog in the park for him, because when it gets to the first 200 meters, Noah is a Dog.”
Lyles has attracted alot of hate for his chest-thumping, but he mostly walks the talk. Hall has warned those writing him off because of his underwhelming display in the final of the 200 meters against underestimating the 27-year-old.
“He is not in the conversation for one of the fastest men ever to run in the world for no reason.”
