Justin Gatlin has predicted stiff competition for Kenyan athlete Mary Moraa in the women’s 800m after her brilliant showing in the women’s 800m final at the Diamond League.

Former American sprinter Justin Gatlin has offered word of advice to Kenyan athlete Mary Moraa on what it will take to breakdown stiff competition in the women’s 800m event.

Moraa who clinched the women’s 800m Diamond League in Brussels put up her season’s best time at 1:56.56, a feat that Gatlin says puts her pole position in women’s 800m.

Gatlin is, however, convinced that Moraa will need to do more next season if she’s to dispose stiff competition.

“She’s going to have to do a lot for that 1:54. That is a different level right there,” said Gatlin via his Ready Set Go podcast.

The American sprint legend has hinted that Moraa will have to put up a time of 1:54 to ward off any challengers.

Moraa herself has pointed out that she is targeting faster time after her victory in Brussels.

“I have been training well this season and I was like I can run 1:55 but the events have been many to me but next season, my hope is to run 1:55 or maybe 1:54. That is my main target from now,” said Moraa via Puravidasportsafrica.

Moraa is poised to be in action in Newyork at Athlos, for a women’s only track and field events scheduled for Thursday, September 26.
