Sha'Carri Richardson showed great class to lead the Americans to a 4x100m relay gold medal ahead of Great Britain and Germany.
Sha’Carri Richardson anchored the US women’s team to Olympics gold medal in the 4x100m relay on Friday night.
In what was her first gold at the Olympics, the world 100m champion and Olympics silver medallist, made it look easy as she picked up the baton from Gabby Thomas to sprint to the gold medal.
Olympics 100m bronze medallist Melissa Jefferson started the race before handing over to Tanisha Terry who then exchanged with Thomas, the newly-crowned Olympics 200m champion.
Thomas commanded her leg and then handed it over to Richardson who did not mess up.
She gave a cheeky glance to her rival, Britain’s Daryll Neita, before crossing the finish line and then flinched her fist in celebration.
The Americans won the race in a season’s best time of 41.78 ahead of Great Britain who claimed silver in 41.85 as Germany clocked 41.97 for bronze.
The British team had Dina-Ashe Smith, Imani Lansiquot, Amy Hust and Daryll Neita.
