Tobi Amusan qualified for the final at the Nigeria Olympic Trials in effortless manner and is now on course to win her historic fourth title.

Hurdling queen Tobi Amusan began her historic journey to a fourth consecutive national title at the ongoing Nigeria Olympic Trials, storming to an effortless win in the semifinals.

With activities scheduled from June 16 - 18 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, it will be used to select athletes for the Paris Olympic Games and African Championships in Cameroon.

Kicking off her quest for a historic fourth, the WR holder in the women's 100mH sped to an easy 12.82s (unofficial) to win her heat and qualify for the next round.

However, Faith Osamuyi clocked the fastest time of 12.76s (unofficial) in the second semifinal, thus putting herself in the conversation of challenging US-based Adaobi Tamugbo for the second position in the final.

Tamugbo has the second-fastest time of 13.02s by a Nigerian hurdler this season, and cannot be written off to run faster with Amusan leading them to smash their lifetime bests.

With the final slated for Day 2, Amusan will be aiming for another top position which will make her the first Nigerian hurdler in history to win four consecutive national titles.
