He made his debut at last year’s Valencia Marathon where he clocked the third-fastest time in the marathon in history (2:01:53).
The reigning London Marathon champion Kelvin Kiptum is unsure about participating in the upcoming World Championships scheduled for August 19 to 27 in Budapest, Hungary.
Kiptum, 23, revealed that his management is yet to decide where he will compete but talks are underway and he will know soon.

The four have been recognised for their outstanding performances between January and April by electronics giant LG and Sports Journalists’ Association of Kenya
He is currently managed by Golazo, who also manage other great athletes like world 800m bronze medallist Mary Moraa and world under-20 1500m champion Reynold Cheruiyot.
“I’m still waiting for my management to tell me if I can compete there. They are the ones who tell me where I will go to race. If they decide it’s Budapest…then I am ready to go there. Probably in two weeks’ time, I’ll know where I’ll be going next,” Kiptum said.
He added that he will resume training fully next month and he is looking forward to doing better going forward.
During the London Marathon on April 23, Kiptum displayed a brilliant show and stunned many fans when he sprinted to the finish line and clocked 2:01:25.

Kelvin Kiptum is the latest kid on the block after his recent exploits at the just concluded 2023 London Marathon.
However, Kiptum revealed that the time he posted in London also came as a surprise for him as he was not expecting that.
“I was just running…I didn’t know I was close to the record until I got close to the finish line. That’s when I realised I was close to the world record but I knew I couldn’t break it at the time,” he said.
