“However, I thank God that I was able to make the final and my aim at this Olympic Games is to get to the final and we shall see how things go. Making my Olympic debut is a blessing because it was not easy and I thank God and I’m ready to represent the country.”

Cheruiyot also promised to bring home a medal if all goes well, revealing that Timothy also has the experience sine he has raced at the Olympic Games before.

“We have planned that everyone will work hard in the preliminaries and semifinal and then when we get to the final, we shall work together to make sure we dethrone the champions. For now, we are yet to plan on a strategy but we shall come up with one once we get to the final,” he said.

“At the moment, I don’t have any pressure and we just want to get to the final and see how things go. We promise to bring something good home and Timothy Cheruiyot is now back and he has the experience,” Cheruiyot added.
