The 18-year-old also said his worst fear in athletics would be getting an injury or being banned.
Fast rising 100m sprint rookie, Isaac Omurwa has opened up on the difference between relating with his blood brother Ferdinand Omanyala on and off the track.
Omurwa narrated how different his relationship with his brother is in the professional scene and home setup.
“On the track, he is my mentor…we don’t get to joke around because I consider him a teammate. In the house, we joke around a lot,” he quipped.
The newly-crowned East Africa junior 100m champion is also not resting on his laurels as he seeks to run faster times in the upcoming races.
Currently, his personal best time over the distance stands at 10.72, a time he clocked to win the 100m at the East Africa Under-18 and 20 Championships. The 18-year-old assured his fans that by the end of the year, he would have accomplished his target of running 10.30.
“I have to push hard so I can win the other races coming. Actually, I’m promising people that I will lower it to 10.3 before this year ends,” Omurwa said.
As quoted by The Star, the youngster noted that he will be hoping to prove a point at the Africa Youth Championships trials slated for March 24 and 25 at the Nyayo Stadium.
"I hope for a 10.5 finish during the trials at Nyayo Stadium next week," he said.
The Alliance High School alumnus revealed that he will be keen to work on his blocks as he seeks to emulate his elder brother, Africa 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala.
“That’s my weakness but once I address my first 60m, then I will be bad news. Omanyala is very strong and from watching him, I am always motivated,” he added.
Speaking to Sports Eye, the fast-rising sprint sensation noted that his passion for the sport is what pushes him to persevere through the demanding training schedule. He also prides himself in training with some great athletes.
He revealed his worst nightmare in athletics is getting an injury or being banned from participating in events.
